Boki Road Network, Nsadob Community appreciates Government - 16/5/08
The Nsadob community in Boki Local Government has commended Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross River for undertaking an aggressive developmental project in the area in order to give it a face lift.
Speaking at a reception for Imoke at the country home of the Commissioner for Works, Hon Edward Ogon at Nsadob Tuesday, the village head of the area Chief Bernard Ntum said the road project and its completed attending bridge will be of great help for them in transporting their farm produce thereby improving the economy of the people.
They lauded Imoke for appointing their sons and daughters into various political offices which in effect means that they are part of government, hoping that within a short time Boki will change for good.
Ntum stated that they as a people owe a lot to the Nsadob Oil Palm Estate which government took over and paid compensation which they are grateful, appealing that security be provided there to check poaching.
Responding, Governor Imoke urged the community to maintain peace as no meaningful development can be achieved in the area without peace which is panacea for an aggressive development.
Speaking in a interview later, Imoke assured Cross Riverians of government’s determination to take development to every nook as its road construction programme is taken in phases, adding that government will always look for funds to tackle challenges faced in the course of providing its citizenry good roads because of the role it plays in accelerating the economy in terms of transporting farm produce bearing in mind the agricultural status of Cross River in Nigeria.
Also speaking the Chairman of Boki Local Government Area, Mrs. Betsy Bankong-Obi said the people of the area have every cause to be grateful to Governor Imoke bearing in mind its previous status before he became governor, describing him as a visionary leader who has the interest of Boki people at heart.
Bankong-Obi said in her effort to impact on the people of the area, she would collaborate with various agencies to enhance their development by creating jobs and wealth because they are endowed greatly by nature.
