Nigeria, Cameroon Relationship Agelong - 22/5/08

Nigeria has promised to maintain the age long cordial relationship which exists between it and the Republic of Cameroon.

Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross River State stated this when he received the Consul General of Cameroon, Mr. Joseph Foe Atangana in Calabar, Tuesday as part of the national day celebration of Republic of Cameroon, adding that it is a relationship which is much more than the two countries that are neighbors with identical cultural affinity.

Imoke noted that the long border which separates the two is purely for administrative purpose not withstanding, either side should play its role as brothers assuring that the State will work hard to ensure that the Green Tree Agreement is implemented as scheduled thereby strengthening the cooperation and friendship existing between the two countries.

The Governor stressed that peace and security are paramount for the coexistence of the two countries while wishing his guest a happy celebration of their national day.

The Cameroon Consul General Mr. Joseph Foe Atagang commended Imoke for the various projects which the state has executed as well as the cordial relationship which exists between the two countries, while soliciting an economic partnership between the two countries for the benefits of their citizens.
