Cross River is Strong about Justice - Imoke - (23/5/08)

Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross River State says the state is strong about the delivery of justice in its effort to provide the dividends of democracy.

While receiving the Resident Judge of the Federal High Court, Calabar Judicial Division Hon. Justice Adeniyi Francis Adetokumbo – Ademola during a courtesy call on Thursday, Imoke noted that the critical component of democracy is to ensure that judiciary is not only accessible but also ensure that every person is given the opportunity to enforce his right.

Imoke assured the judge of government support and assistance to ensure that justice is administered equitably in fair manner, adding that the state will ensure his welfare which is a matter of priority.

According to Imoke, his presence and assumption of office in Calabar is reflective of a new opportunity to exercise court rights as there is hope for people with legal matters in the Federal High Court, saying he was happy to have him in Cross River and pleased with his disposition while assuring that the interaction between the duo will be strengthened and sustained and be rest assured government support is sustained.

The Resident Judge of the Federal High Court, Calabar Judicial Division, Honourable Justice Adeniyi Francis Adetokumbo – Ademola, who was appointed a judge in 2003 and posted from Kano to Calabar in April this year, described his stay in Calabar since assumption of office as an interesting experience as there are a lot of achievements in many areas.

Adetokumbo – Ademola hoped that while in Calabar, the noble steps taken in the administration of justice will be extended to the judges to enhance their functions in the state while commending Imoke for doing well to ensure justice is delivered as his administration has done well with the hope that he will surpass the achievement of his predecessor.

He pointed out that it is the area of justice and its administration that the duo should rob minds with the view of creating a true democratic environment.
