Temporary shutdown of Cable Car and Water Park facilities at the Ranch. (4/7/08)
The Cross River State Tourism Development Department has announced the temporary shut down of operations at the cable car and water park facilities of the Obudu Ranch Resort to allow the manufacturing Engineers, Doppel Mayer of Austria proceed with routine maintenance.
Mr. Gabe Onah, Special Adviser on Tourism Development who disclosed this in Calabar recently maintained that the exercise is sequel to His Excellency, Senator Liyel Imoke’s approval that a routine maintenance of the facilities is carried out to keep them in top shape for the peak period of the state’s tourism events calendar.
The peak period of the State’s annual events calendar according to him kicks off in the third week of July with the proposed Tinapa Soccer Fiesta, featuring two English Premiership side Champions, Manchester United and FA Cup winners, Portsmouth FC.
Onah pointed out that the Governor’s approval is timely and commendable as the facilities will now be ready for the huge traffic of tourists expected at the flagship tour destination-the Obudu Ranch Resort this year.
He however, regretted all inconvenience this temporary shut down may cause the Ranch’s esteemed clients but assured that normal operation will resume as soon as maintenance work is completed within two weeks.
