Acting Governor commends Pro-Imoke groups (22/7/08)

 

 

Hon Francis Adah, the Acting Governor of Cross River State has commended the various groups across the state that have ralliedin sport of Liyel Imoke whose election was nullified by the Appeal Court through demonstrations and solidarity city walks.

While receiving the Mandate 2007/2008 led by the National Coordinator of Mandate World Wide, Deacon Ojong Okongor, at Governor’s Office, Calabar the Acting Governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon Edet Okon Asim, said he was delighted and encouraged by the action of the various groups that have come out to support Imoke.

Adah described the action as a collective resolve of the people to ensure that the aggressive development posture of Imoke is maintained, assuring that their message will be taken to the erstwhile governor, “who is currently on a retreat meditating on how to move the state forward when he comes back”.

The Acting Governor noted that the mandate which the people had given to Imoke on April 14, 2007 can not be toyed with and called on INEC to put things in order so that the people could revalidate their votes during the rescheduled election.

He expressed his pride in the people’s action and thanked them for the support because in no distant date Imoke will be back to office to continue with his good works.

The Special Adviser Political Affairs, Mr. Simon Nkoro thanked them for the turn-out and hoped they would turn out enmasse and cast their votes when the date of election is fixed.

Nkoro described the rally as solidarity and also an indication of their support for l Imoke whom he said had within his first year in office imparted positively on the lives of the people.

The National Coordinator of Mandate 2007/2008, Deacon Ojong Okongor said they organized the rally because they all need Imoke as the governor of Cross River and that they will vote for him in the next election when ever the date is fixed by INEC.
